Fighting the Fever
Fighting the Fever. In 2013, Kenya and its neighbouring countries lost over a million cows to East Coast Fever. To end this problem, Kenyan scientists have been working to develop a better, cheaper version of the best vaccine currently available. As of 2018, their work has shown strong results: over 1.3 million heads of cattle have already been vaccinated and, now that the vaccine has been approved for commercial use, it has the potential to save East African farmers over $300 million each year.
